A typical Jewish housewife living near Jerusalem in approximately 40 C.E. gives the audience a tour of her home and takes them along as she joins the other women of her village for the daily early morning trek to the town well.
In the process, she describes objects observed along the way, such as the olive press and the many crosses used for daily crucifixions. At the well, she delineates the tasks accomplished there besides filling water jugs, including providing water for the household animals.
The audience is then edified by another woman's quite different story of her experiences of the daily trip to the well.
